GOURMET CHEESE ASSOCIATE

 

Position Summary:

The Gourmet Cheese Associate will work part-time, handling, preparing, wrapping, weighing, labeling, and pricing cheeses and working in the olive bar. The Gourmet Cheese Associate works under the supervision and guidance of the Gourmet Cheese Department Manager.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Maintains cleanliness, organized work area, counter display, and safety standards in accordance with Seeds to Table and Gourmet Cheese Department guidelines (verbal and/or written) and food safety handling procedures.
  • Handles and prepares labels and prices a variety of gourmet cheeses.
  • Maintains and replenished products in storage areas, display cases, and surrounding area.
  • Assists and serves customers and explains products.
  • Cuts and wraps cheeses.
  • Merchandises and fills the Olive Bar.
  • Ensures proper dates of cheeses, department products, and inventory control.
  • Assists with additional department-related tasks when required.
  • Involves in making mozzarella cheese in hot temperature water.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years experience in customer service preferred.
  • Able to work in a rapidly increasing, high-volume, fast-moving work environment
  • Willingness and availability to work a flexible schedule that includes (a) days (b) nights (c) weekends, and (d) holidays
  • Excellent attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and ability to work independently and with a team
  • Promote sales, taste cheeses, organize merchandise, and maintain cleanliness
  • Able to conduct basic mathematics and interpret data as required
  • Able to identify and learn about the department’s products
  • High-level interpersonal and communication skills
  • Knowledge and experience with cutting and wrapping cheeses are a plus.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds. 
  •  Stand and walk for the duration of the shift.
  •  Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling.
  • Manual dexterity.
  • Work requires the following motions: bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching. 
  • Exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
