Position Summary

The Automotive Service Manager serves as the key liaison between customers and the service department. The role involves managing repair and maintenance services, ensuring clear communication with customers, and leading the service team to achieve high customer satisfaction and meet dealership sales goals.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Obtain customer approval before starting service and communicate estimated repair costs, timelines, and payment methods.
  • Sell only necessary service and maintenance in compliance with dealership policies.
  • Monitor repair status, update customers proactively, and secure authorization for any revised estimates.
  • Ensure quality control and road testing are completed on all repairs before delivery.
  • Stay informed on vehicle operation, warranties, recalls, Technical Service Bulletins, and relevant regulations.
  • Recruit, hire, evaluate, schedule, and manage service department staff.
  • Maintain and exceed service level targets and comply with all documentation and safety policies.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training, and ongoing education.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support dealership operations.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Post-secondary automotive training or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • Valid, unrestricted driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Professional, dependable, and customer service oriented.
  • Basic computer and internet skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and professional appearance.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions effectively.
  • Physical ability to bend, kneel, squat, stand, and lift heavy objects as needed.
