Position Overview

The Automotive Service Lane Manager is responsible for leading and mentoring the service lane team, collaborating with other departments, and maintaining an organized and efficient service lane area. This role requires strong communication and leadership skills to ensure excellent customer experiences and operational success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Morning Huddles:
    • Lead team meetings 15-30 minutes before opening to review daily appointments and celebrate previous successes.
    • Identify potential challenges with vehicles or customer issues and facilitate solutions.
  • Coaching and Mentoring:
    • Monitor service lane operations throughout the day, providing support where needed.
    • Assist advisors with estimates, warranty claims, and customer interactions.
    • Encourage the team to drive sales, follow up on customer surveys, and maintain high service standards.
  • Daily Operational Support:
    • Review open repair orders and address reasons for delays.
    • Spot-check repair orders for booking errors and warranty compliance, providing real-time coaching.
    • Assist in reviewing extended warranties and processing warranty claims.
    • Prepare for the next day’s appointments, coordinating parts, rentals, and service needs.
  • Communication and Collaboration:
    • Coordinate regularly with Service and Parts Managers on lane status, capacity, and Standard Operating Procedures issues.
    • Manage rental car availability in cooperation with team members.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, talk, and hear regularly.
  • Frequent walking and sitting.
  • Exposure to exhaust fumes and airborne particles.
  • Occasional lifting or moving of objects up to 10 pounds.
  • Required vision abilities include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision.
